El ‘Diablo’ Mondaini volvió a su viejo amor

Seis años tuvieron que pasar para que Marcos Mondaini vuelva a ponerse la camiseta de Emelec, equipo en el que se dio a conocer, luego de su paso por los semilleros de Boca Juniors.

Aunque formó parte del plantel ‘xeneixe’ que obtuvo el título del Torneo Apertura 2005 en su país, fue en el 2006 cuando el delantero argentino se consolidó como figura, formando una dupla letal en el ‘Bombillo’, junto a su compatriota Luis Miguel Escalada.

En las horas previas de su debut oficial con la camiseta azul y plomo, el ‘Diablo’ Mondaini confesó que siente la misma ansiedad de la primera vez que vino al país, especialmente porque le tocará jugar en una cancha tan difícil como la del Olímpico de Riobamba.

“Olmedo es un rival peligroso y hay que respetarlo. Además, el terreno de juego es complicado y supongo que en época de lluvia será más difícil. Siempre será duro volver a comenzar, especialmente en una temporada como esta donde hemos tenido tantos problemas para poder trabajar, pero se armó un grupo bárbaro y estoy seguro de que los muchachos pondrán todo su esfuerzo para salir adelante”, afirmó.

A estas alturas prefiere que ya no le toquen el tema de su paso por Barcelona (2008), pero considera que cada etapa de su vida le ayudó a crecer “como persona y como profesional”.

Le gusta vivir el día a día y por eso no quiere imaginar cómo será el recibimiento que le darán los hinchas de la Basura cuando regrese al Monumental y tampoco desea adelantar cuál sería su reacción si volviera a marcar en puerta amarilla.

Aunque su compatriota Luciano Figueroa formó parte de la delegación que viajó ayer a la capital de Chimborazo, la dupla ofensiva titular la integrarán Mondaini y Marlon de Jesús, tal como sucedió en los últimos amistosos.

La competencia va a estar muy dura. Además de Luciano, también tenemos a: Marlon, Pablo (Palacios), Ángel (Mena) y Marquitos (Marcos Caicedo), jugadores muy talentosos, pero al final el profesor (Marcelo Fleitas) es el encargado de decidir y será cuestión de nosotros aprovechar las oportunidades que se nos den“.
